Keterbatasan guru menggunakan bahan ajar untuk menstimulasi perkembangan anak masih belum bervariasi dalam mengenalkan budaya lokal, khususnya menstimulasi dalam pembentukan karakter terutama pembentukan karakter peduli lingkungan. Penggunaan bahan ajar yang kurang bervariasi menimbulkan minat anak kurang tertarik untuk mengikuti kegiatan di sekolah. Tujuan penelitian akan menghasilkan produk berupa buku cerita bergambar berbasis budaya lokal Jambi yang layak dipergunakan. Penggunaan metode penelitian ini menggunakan Reasearch & Development (R&D) menggunakan model Borg & Gall (Research and Information Collection, Planning, Develop Preliminary Form a Product, Preliminary Field Testing, Main Product Revision, Main Field Testing, Operational Product Revision, Operational Field Testing, Final Product Revision, Dissemination and Implementation). Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Angket yang terdiri dari lembar penilaian buku cerita bergambar oleh ahli media, ahli materi, dosen dan guru. Bahan ajar buku cerita bergambar berbasis budaya lokal Jambi dapat menjadi sumber belajaran untuk menyampaikan materi kegiatan belajar di sekolah.
