Kesiapan bersekolah (school readiness) merupakan sebuah prasyarat penting untuk keberhasilan anak dalam transisi anak dari PAUD ke sekolah dasar (SD) dan menempuh pendidikan formal. Selama ini, penilaian terhadap kesiapan bersekolah masih banyak disederhanakan dengan mengacu pada usia kronologis dan indikator akademik semata meskipun idealnya banyak indikator yang perlu dipertimbangkan secara holistik. Oleh karena itu, penulis melakukan penelitian kualitatif ini dengan menggunakan pendekatan interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) untuk mengetahui bagaimana ibu pengasuh memaknai dan menilai aspekkesiapan bersekolah anaknya yang berada pada masa transisi PAUD-SD. Perolehan hasil menunjukkan bahwa persepsi ibu bersifat multidimensi meliputi kesiapan akademik dasar, kemandirian dalam aktivitas sehari-hari, adanya kemampuan regulasi emosi, kompetensi sosial yang baik, dan juga kesehatan secara fisik, kendati penekanan titik fokus masih berada pada aspek usia kronologis dan juga capaian akademik. Temuan ini menggarisbawahi perlunya asesmen dan program intervensi kesiapan bersekolah yang holistik dimana tidak hanya menargetkan anak sebagai peserta didik, melainkan juga orang tua sebagai pendamping agar transisi anak dari PAUD ke SD dapat berlangsung lebih adaptif.
