Abstract

Spatial awareness merupakan kemampuan seseorang untuk memahami kesadaran tubuh dan mengklasifikasikan lingkungan fisik atau dunia sekitar. Spatial awareness ini seringkali terdengar seperti kemampuan yang sangat dasar dan bisa didapatkan secara otomatis oleh anak dalam aktivitas sehari-hari. Namun, kemampuan ini perlu distimulasi dengan baik karena dapat menjadi modal awal dalam memahami tentang dunia spasial dan konsep matematika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan strategi guru dalam mengembangkan spatial awareness anak di PAUD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa Focus Group Discussion (FGD), wawancara, dan observasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, menujukkan bahwa guru menggunakan beberapa strategi untuk mengembangkan spatial awareness pada anak, diantaranya yaitu melalui bermain bebas, games, kegiatan senam, berbaris, dan bermain dengan media loose parts. Selain itu, para guru juga menggunakan musik serta gerak dan lagu sebagai strategi untuk mengembangkan spatial awareness anak. Pemilihan strategi yang dilakukan disesuaikan dengan karakteristik anak dan kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan.
